The first TMC MEN’S NIGHT OUT was held in 1951 at the former Alvin Plaza Hotel at 624 S. Main. The purpose of the MEN’S NIGHT OUT (stag dinners) is to, “Promote Good Fellowship, To Afford our members with a place and opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, and to enter varied forms of entertainment and recreation for our members.” --Article 2 of the TMC Constitution.
Our Men’s Night Out has moved to a varied location program. The expenses of the MEN’S NIGHT OUT are covered by TMC dues. In recent meetings the average attendance at a MEN’S NIGHT OUT has averaged 55+ members. These events are a great membership booster, as about half of the guests that attend a MEN’S NIGHT OUT end up joining TMC.
Recent speakers have been Chad Weiberg, Athletic Director, Oklahoma State University, Phil Lakin, Tulsa County Commissioner and Mike McClendon with NatureWorks, Jim Bridenstine, former US Congressman, Former Administrator of NASA, and currently on the Board of Trustees for Aerospace Corporation. We have also had some of our members be featured speakers. Recent members who shared their stores with us were Bill Kusleika and Ron Carson, who are members of the Tulsa University Athletic Hall of Fame.
In honor of Veterans Day, the November Men’s Night Out recognizes all our TMC Veterans. Past agendas have included our WW II members sharing their captivating stories, and the theme of “Humor in Uniform”, when our Veterans shared their humorous stories. Both were outstanding.
At another Men’s Night Out we recognized our 16 active former TMC Presidents. They shared with us what TMC means to them, then were each presented with a TMC “Presidential” White Hat.
Each Men's Night Out concludes with a time of Fun and Games. Our members stay to play each other in Texas Hold-em Poker, Left Center Right Dice Game, a Putting Contest, and The TMC dart game.
Previous Chairmen include Doug Pierce, Jim Brill, Ray Ruess, Chuck Purser, Phil Franczyk, Hap Fry, and Bill French.
